Rapid Prototyping Specialist
We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Rapid Prototyping Specialist to design, develop, and produce prototypes that accelerate product development and innovation. This role involves working closely with product designers, engineers, and R&D teams to turn concepts into tangible models using advanced fabrication tools and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to understand product requirements and prototype objectives.
- Develop and produce high-quality prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and other fabrication methods.
- Select appropriate materials, processes, and technologies for each prototype based on performance and testing needs.
- Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to create accurate prototypes.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot prototyping equipment and machinery.
- Iterate on prototypes based on feedback, test results, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure prototypes meet functional, aesthetic, and safety standards.
- Document prototype processes, materials, and modifications for knowledge sharing.
- Research and recommend new rapid prototyping tools, materials, and techniques.
- Manage prototyping timelines to ensure projects are delivered on schedule.
Requirements
- Proven experience in rapid prototyping, product development, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360.
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and other fabrication technologies.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for prototyping.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Fluency in English; Swedish language skills are an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience with multiple prototyping technologies and hybrid fabrication methods.
- Knowledge of post-processing techniques for 3D-printed or machined parts.
